The Community Action Network: Together, We CAN
… An action plan for making a difference in our state one community at a time
The Keep Arkansas Beautiful mission of inspiring and educating individuals to prevent litter, recycle and keep Arkansas beautiful is most effectively carried out in local communities by organizations and groups that undertake planned and coordinated activities.
Keep Arkansas Beautiful, through its Community Action Network (CAN), offers three levels of association so Arkansas communities, organizations, business, governments and individuals can connect with Keep Arkansas Beautiful and other like-minded entities across the state and around the country: Keep America Beautiful certified local affiliate, Keep Arkansas Beautiful program participant or Keep Arkansas Beautiful supporter.
Keep America Beautiful Certified Local Affiliates
A Keep America Beautiful certified local affiliate is a grassroots organization that has undergone specific Keep America Beautiful training and instruction. Certified affiliates receive support and resources from the national network of Keep America Beautiful certified affiliates and the statewide network of Keep Arkansas Beautiful program participants. (Keep Arkansas Beautiful is the Keep America Beautiful certified state affiliate in Arkansas and oversees and manages all national programs, such as the national Great American Cleanup and America Recycles Day, implemented in the state.) Current Keep America Beautiful certified local affiliates in Arkansas include:
- Keep Benton County Beautiful
- Keep Faulkner County Beautiful
- Keep Jacksonville Beautiful
- Hot Springs/Garland County Beautification Commission
- Keep Little Rock Beautiful
- Keep Newport Beautiful
- Pine Bluff/Jefferson County Clean and Beautiful
- Keep Sherwood Beautiful
- Keep Van Buren Beautiful
Keep Arkansas Beautiful has grants available to assist communities with their Keep America Beautiful certification costs and partially underwrite training and education opportunities.
Keep Arkansas Beautiful Program Participants
Keep Arkansas Beautiful program participants are community groups and organizations (such as the local garden club or a Scout troop) that regularly participate in Keep Arkansas Beautiful programs, such as the Great Arkansas Cleanup, to augment their own primary mission or to contribute to their community's overall clean and green environmental quality of life.
Keep Arkansas Beautiful Supporters
Businesses, organizations, governments and individuals that make gifts of cash, grants, sponsorships, volunteers or materials are Keep Arkansas Beautiful supporters. Such tax-deductible contributions are made to the Keep Arkansas Beautiful Foundation, a nonprofit organization with the sole mission of augmenting the overall, statewide Keep Arkansas Beautiful program.
Communities, organizations, businesses, governments and individuals are important to the Community Action Network and the success of the Keep Arkansas Beautiful mission: We are all bound together by our common desire and our collective efforts to improve the environmental quality of life in our communities and state!
