The Community Action Network: Together, We CAN
… An action plan for making a difference in our state one community at a time
The Community Action Network is a statewide organization that provides tools and resources for improving a community and preventing litter, encouraging recycling and promoting scenic beautification.
Who May Join the Community Action Network?
Looking for ways to prevent litter? A community, organization or individual may join CAN, and different models of involvement are available to accommodate the needs and level they may want to have in Community Action Network and the Keep Arkansas Beautiful mission.
To help your community determine its effectiveness in dealing with litter, waste reduction and beautification, fill out our Community Assessment Inventory. Then, evaluate the resources already available in your community to deal with litter. These two assessments will help your community determine how it wants to be involved in Community Action Network.

Keep Arkansas Beautiful Chapters
The Chapter model of involvement in Community Action Network is for those communities that are organized with broad-based community representation from business and industry, nonprofit organizations, churches and schools, and city and county government and have ongoing community-improvement programs and activities but do not wish to become a Keep America Beautiful Affiliate. CAN Chapters are expected to participate in the Great Arkansas Cleanup each fall and the Great American Cleanup each spring.
Keep Arkansas Beautiful Partners
The Partner model of involvement in Community Action Network is for those existing community organizations that have their own specific missions, such as Boy and Girl Scout troops, garden clubs and Rotary clubs, but wish to be affiliated with Keep Arkansas Beautiful. CAN Partners share an interest in all or part of the Keep Arkansas Beautiful mission but do not want to be a Chapter or Keep America Beautiful Affiliate. CAN Partners might coordinate a local Great Arkansas Cleanup event or want to partner with Keep Arkansas Beautiful on an Earth Day event, for example.
Keep Arkansas Beautiful Supporters
The Supporter model of involvement is for those individuals who wish to volunteer for their local Great American Cleanup, Great Arkansas Cleanup or other community-improvement event. Additionally, CAN Supporters may also make monetary contributions to the Keep Arkansas Beautiful Foundation.
Both communities and individuals are important to Community Action Network and the success of the Keep Arkansas Beautiful mission: We are all bound together by our common desire and our collective efforts to improve the quality of life in our communities and state!
