Arkansas Shine and Superstar Awards
The Arkansas Shine Awards honors communities across the state that have adopted a comprehensive approach to keeping their hometowns clean and green. The entry deadline is Sept. 15 in odd-numbered years.

Entrants in the Arkansas Shine Awards must be an incorporated city of Arkansas. Entrants will be judged in six population divisions, with one winner in each. The city’s mayor must submit the award entry, although the entry will be expected to summarize all activities in the areas of litter prevention, recycling, beautification and community development, not just city-sponsored programs. One Arkansas Shine Superstar Award will be given to a community that has previously won two or more Shine Awards; those entries will be judged separately.
Entries must be postmarked no later than Sept. 15 in odd-numbered years; winners will be announced in October. Each winning city will receive a specially designed award at a hometown recognition ceremony sponsored by KAB.
The Arkansas Shine Awards is an opportunity for communities to be a part of KAB’s public-awareness campaign, Shine – Keep Arkansas Clean & Green. The campaign seeks to educate Arkansans about the individual actions – such as not littering, reporting litter or recycling household items like newspaper and plastic bottles – that make a larger impact on the state’s environmental quality of life.
