Great Arkansas Cleanup - Pick Up Trash!

Each year, an estimated 17,000 Arkansans volunteer for the statewide Great Arkansas Cleanup litter-pickup event. Through their efforts, litter is picked up from 3,400 miles of roadway, 121 parks and public areas, and 534 miles of shoreline; and 26 illegal dumps are closed. This fall, join a Great Arkansas Cleanup event in your area!

Great American Cleanup - Pick Up Trash!

The Keep America Beautiful Great American Cleanup is the nation's largest community-improvement event. And Arkansas has historically been a leader in volunteerism during this three-month springtime effort by organizing 300 events that involved more than 10,000 volunteers and 45,000 hours of donated time. This spring, improve your community by participating in your local Great American Cleanup.

Awards Program

Picking up litter and improving your community can be rewarding … and awarding! Through its annual statewide awards program, KAB is able to recognize groups and individuals for their stewardship of the state's scenic beauty, environmental quality and natural resources. Is your community engaged in a worthwhile project in the area of litter prevention, recycling and waste reduction, or beautification and community improvement? If so, consider entering this year's awards program!

Schools and Youth

No one is a natural-born litterer! Good environmental habits can and should be learned early, and involving young people in your community's improvement efforts is an important step toward keeping your community clean and beautiful. From recruiting young people as volunteers for your Great Arkansas Cleanup or Great American Cleanup event to engaging students in butterfly gardening and other environmental curricula, involve young people in your community's improvement efforts for a lasting impact into the future!

Wildflowers Forever

Our state is graced with more than 1,000 species of wildflowers. Wildflowers help reduce maintenance costs, enhance wildlife habitats and preserve native plant populations, and they can be a stunning addition to your community's beautification efforts.

Adopt-A-Highway

Adopt a highway - pick up trash - litter clean up This Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department program allows groups and individuals to "adopt" a section of Arkansas roadway by pledging to pick up trash and keep it free of litter. Voluntarily maintaining the roadways into and out of your community is another way to be involved in improving your community. Additionally, many communities offer citizens the opportunity to Adopt-A-Street or Adopt-A-Spot. Your local street department or parks and recreation department will have more information. Adopt a highway or Arkansas roadway today!

Volunteering

It takes each of us to prevent litter, encourage recycling and promote scenic beautification. By volunteering your time, you can become involved in making your community a cleaner place to live, work and play!

Looking for ways to reduce our waste and beautify the environment through community clean up efforts in Arkansas? You can participate in the Great Arkansas Cleanup, the statewide community-improvement campaign.
