More Than 9,000 Arkansans Volunteer for Keep Arkansas Beautiful’s Annual Spring Cleanup Initiative

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (July 18, 2022) — The Keep Arkansas Beautiful Commission (KAB) announced the end-of-campaign results for its spring cleanup initiative, the Great American Cleanup® in Arkansas (GamC). In 2022, more than 9,000 Arkansans volunteered to improve their communities by removing 144.2 tons of litter during 308 cleanup events.

KAB is Arkansas’s largest organization completely dedicated to statewide beautification efforts and litter prevention. Every year, KAB organizes the GamC event that begins on March 1 and continues through May 31.

“We saw outstanding numbers of volunteers across the state this year,” said Robyn Taylor, volunteer program manager at KAB. “We are proud of the overwhelming involvement we received from Arkansans who have taken responsibility for keeping their communities clean, litter free and beautiful.”

In addition to litter removal, volunteers also removed 395.8 tons of bulky waste across 855.29 miles of roadside, 417.30 miles of waterway and shorelines and 758.04 acres of parks and public areas. During these cleanups, 4,773 tires were collected and 3.2 tons of electronics were recycled with 2,643 trees, shrubs and flowers being planted in Arkansas.

Those interested in participating in future cleanups or organizing their own are encouraged to volunteer during the Great Arkansas Cleanup kicking off this fall. For more information, visit http://bit.ly/KAB-CLEAN.
